Yes, but the patch found in that bug report
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/wicd/+bug/897399/+attachment/3414734/+files/wicd-897399)
doesn't fit what I would expect as patch for this issue.

I assume the initial bug report was about two separate bugs which were
not clearly distinguishable back then and only one of them git fixed
while the other is still present:

No, upstream applied it and the current Debian package contains that
patch.

I'll probably add the additional template suggested in Launchpad as
well as in the Debian BTS.
