It's my understanding that vm-tools was developed against unstable (at the
time, 3 now), and they backported to xen 2. They tend to be working a lot
more actively than their site shows, but since a lot of the team was summer
interns, it's possible things have slowed down. I'll post our latest
results, but we've used 0.1.9 with unstable quite successfully.

and I know that's extreme. Anthony was very keen on have vm-tools maintained
as a debian package, if nobody objects I'll check back with him and post
