I don't understand why you say that switching to the unstable Xen tree
does _solve_ the problem.  I'd call that only a work-around.

And in fact, you are right, switching to
`xen-hypervisor-3.0-unstable-1-i386' makes the Dom0 boot again.  Not the
domU(s), however.  See some messages above yours on #385934, e.g.
