Hello, I've been asked to test this, can anyone help me?
The platform I would like to test on:
- Lenny/amd64
- Intel VT-i (Xen HVM support)
I've looked over the various threads and wiki pages on the issue and I
thought I would try to summarise it more concisely:
dom0 (32 bit):
- regular install using Lenny CD, Debian Installer, i386
- install the kernel package from etch, linux-image-2.6.18-6-xen-686
<http://packages.debian.org/etch/linux-image-2.6.18-6-xen-amd64>
- install the Xen 3.2 hypervisor from lenny, xen-hypervisor-3.2-1-i386
dom0 (64 bit/amd64):
- regular install using Lenny CD, Debian Installer, amd64 port
- install the kernel package from etch, linux-image-2.6.18-6-xen-amd64
<http://packages.debian.org/etch/linux-image-2.6.18-6-xen-amd64>
- install the Xen 3.2 hypervisor from lenny, xen-hypervisor-3.2-1-amd64
domU (Lenny, 32 bit):
- on dom0, install the kernel package for domU: linux-image-2.6.25-2-686
from Lenny
- boot the domU using the Debian installer method or use xen-tools
domU (Lenny, 64 bit):
- on dom0, install the kernel package for domU: linux-image-2.6.25-2-amd64
from Lenny
- boot the domU using xen-tools
Is the above correct?
Is there likely to be any further change to this process before the official
release of Lenny?
The wiki says that D-I in domU is only supported for i386. If the correct
kernel is present in dom0, is there any official or unofficial way to run
D-I in a 64 bit domU?
Sally
