No. You Should Not. This is not your call to make and certainly not
yours to enforce.

Personally I find it to be extremely rude that just because you prefer
git to constantly insist that we should change the VCS used here.

Perhaps you would find it easier to collaborate with people if you
attempted to fit in with existing practices rather than insisting
everyone switches to suit you?

If you don't want to or cannot learn sufficient SVN to do the basic
tasks required (about 10 mins work reading a man page IMHO) then please
just use the git svn plugin. I use it and it works quite nicely without
requiring me to continually harp on about switching another Debian
maintainer's packaging to git.
