I once asked Mike about using xe and xl at the same time, and he said 
that there was no reason why it would conflict to use both. Even though 
obviously we shouldn't advertize about using both xe and xl at the same 
time, I'd be very happy if this could be added as a feature of XCP in 
Debian in the near future, and this could well happen one day that 
someone invest real development time on make sure it's possible.

Let's not make it impossible because of packaging choices! :)
