I can see how this is annoying.  I'm not sure though that fixing this
in jessie now meets the criteria that the stable release team would
use:

If you would like to pursue this, would you care to please file the
bug report as described in that Developers' Reference section ?

If the stable release team are happy, I will do the actual upload.
