Oops, sorry I just did some of this.  Let me know if you think it
should be done differently.  I followed the ideas here:

Or actually I re-invented those instructions (using the upstream+dfsg
branch name instead of dfsg_clean) before finding the documentation.

Yeah, I also asked this on mentors and got the suggestion to do lintian
override but then people disagreed and thought it really should be
re-packaged.  I tried to stay out of the flamewar :-)
