I have found that the problem can be worked around by copying the module
which the script complains about to a directory "util" under the
current working directory:
# cd /tmp
# mkdir util
# cp /usr/lib/prosody/util/encodings.so util
# ejabberd2prosody /tmp/dump.txt
[success] private: [redacted] - storage:bookmarks
[success] private: [redacted] - storage:bookmarks
[...]
That is, the required file "encodings.so" is supplied by the "prosody"
package already, it is just not being found when the ejabberd2prosody
script is executed:
# dpkg -L prosody | grep -i encoding
/usr/lib/prosody/util/encodings.so
I have found that workaround by looking at the error message; it appears
that among several other pathes, Lua tries to load that file also from
"./util/encodings.so".
