Could you please check, if version 0.12.1-1~bpo11+1 solves the issue?

To install it on Debian 11, perform the following steps:

$ echo "deb https://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye-backports main" \
    | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/backports.list
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt install -t bullseye-backports profanity
