Upstream has release 0.8.4 [1].  It adds official support for 5.5 and 5.6---a dire need for Debian unstable
and testing users, since 5.4 is no longer supported.

Some packaging changes are required to build and install 0.8.4.  I've addressed them in an MR on salsa [2].

There may be some test failures on Linux 5.6 [3]---I am in the process of reproducing on Debian's kernel.
