What would such a person start with? Is the source package on the
packages mirrors completely up-to-date?
That, IMO, is the biggest weakness in the classic model: only one
person/computer has the actual source and merges (from NMUs) need to
be manually communicated and applied. Alioth (and arch) are a step in
the right direction to address this :-).
I haven't learned arch yet either, but I've read materials and agree
with (and basically understand) the concepts. I was hoping to learn
the mechanics by using the zope packages :-). Maybe madduck will put
the source in arch for us? If not then maybe I can make some time to
register with alioth (as long as I don't need to be a DD first) and
figure out how to put the code there.
