Yes, this is my main concern with the revision control system, which
is rather complicated, and it's not even intuitive to me by now.

If you install zope 2.8, your 2.7 instances will not be
automatically migrated. You have to do that separately. But zope 2.7
and 2.8 will be able to coexist.
