Package: zope-common
Version: 0.5.13
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

sorry for the German locale but I think all relevant text is in English ...

~$ sudo apt-get install zope-formulator
...
Richte zope-formulator ein (1.9.0-2) ...
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/sbin/dzhandle", line 2041, in ?
    main()
  File "/usr/sbin/dzhandle", line 2036, in main
    rv = action.run(global_options)
  File "/usr/sbin/dzhandle", line 584, in run
    instance.add_addon(self.addon, global_options)
  File "/usr/sbin/dzhandle", line 1632, in add_addon
    uid=global_options.uid, gid=global_options.gid)
  File "/usr/sbin/dzhandle", line 1730, in copytree
    os.mkdir(destdir)
OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/lib/zope2.7/instance/default/Products/Formulator'
...
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I tried to fix circumvent this by

~$ sudo mkdir /var/lib/zope2.7/instance/default/Products/
~$ sudo apt-get install zope-formulator
...
Richte zope-formulator ein (1.9.0-2) ...

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/sbin/dzhandle", line 2041, in ?
    main()
  File "/usr/sbin/dzhandle", line 2036, in main
    rv = action.run(global_options)
  File "/usr/sbin/dzhandle", line 1170, in run
    instance.zopectl('restart')
  File "/usr/sbin/dzhandle", line 1710, in zopectl
    return subprocess.call(cmd)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.4/subprocess.py", line 412, in call
    return Popen(*args, **kwargs).wait()
  File "/usr/lib/python2.4/subprocess.py", line 542, in __init__
    errread, errwrite)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.4/subprocess.py", line 975, in _execute_child
    raise child_exception
OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory

I can reproduce this with other Zope products like for instance zope-tinytable.

I might like to add the following facts:

  1. I had some trouble with dzhandle when installing zope2.8 which
     is described in
      http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-zope-developers/2005-November/001159.html
     I was able to reproduce this very problem at home and I did not
     fiddled around with my box at home which means I can do some tests
     to track down the problem if you tell me what I should do.

  2. I have installed zope2.7 and zope2.8.  If I purge zope2.7 the products
     will be installed fine.

Kind regards and thanks for maintaining Zope infrastructure in Debian

        Andreas.

I'm closing this bug report since I can't reproduce the behaviour with
the last version of zope-common, and the owner of the report don't reply
to my emails.

Andreas, feel free to re-open the report if you think there is something
which I can do to reproduce the bug.

Thanks,
