So this is mainly a documentation glitch. Will retitle the bug report
accordingly.

The infamous ksh emulation mode yet again... ;-)
You shouldn't rely on it as a 1:1 copy of all ksh peculiarities or
bugs but rather see it as zsh behaving in a way so that ksh users feel
at home. :-) See also the recent thread on zsh-workers about ksh mode.
