I agree with Clint, that having -beta doesn't make too much sense
anymore, now that the even/odd stable/unstable branching scheme is gone
(at least for now).

I don't care either way. It seems like the rest of you wants to take
that general route, so surely I won't object. However, if this plan
won't be carried out - contrary to expectations - it would make sense to
take care of both packages under the umbrella of the team as snapshots
of the plain package.
