Please use debian-backports at lists.debian.org (as mentioned on [1]) for
such questions. The team who's maintaining the backports
_infrastructure_ surely won't do backports for you. I've hence removed
backports-team at debian.org from the Cc and added
debian-backports at lists.debian.org instead.

I'm also Cc'ing the Debian Zsh Maintainers Team (which IMHO would be
the more appropriate Cc than just me).

... for quite probably a long time due to a dependency on more recent
libc6 versions (currently 2.15 vs 2.13 in Wheezy), yes.

Yes, and doing that properly without dpkg 1.17.14 will need some
additionaly manual work in the postinst/preinst scripts.

Then again, IIRC #770226 didn't affect upgrades from Wheezy, just from
an older state of Jessie. But I'm neither 100% sure about this
statement nor do I currently have an idea if/how that bug would affect
backports. This needs to be investigated by whoever does the backport.

(JFTR: I don't plan doing a backport of zsh to Wheezy. I have no need
for it as I'm totally fine with Wheezy's zsh.)
