bookworm is the current stable release of Debian and won't receive
any new features (unless someone takes care of a so called backport,
see https://backports.debian.org/).
Daniel (Cc-ed) as the main maintainer of the zsh-syntax-highlighting
package in Debian uploaded a snapshot release of 0.8 to Debian
experimental. Though it would make sense to update it to version
0.8.0 in Debian unstable now, so it can make its way to the upcoming
Debian stable release known as trixie in time. Daniel? :)
Thanks for raising this, John.
