So do you agree with my change ?

We can do:

cp debian/cron.weekly debian/cron.daily
This way, the user cron.weekly will be updated by dpkg.
In the postinst we can check if both cron.daily and cron.weekly exist
and then mv cron.weekly to cron.daily.
