Package: cython
Version: 0.15.1-1ubuntu1
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

I'm considering working on packaging a Python 3 version of Cython, but before
doing so I think it'd be prudent to discuss the overall framework.

Rationale
=========

The 'cython' script provided in the 'cython' package already generates Python
3 compatible code, so the rationale for providing a Python 3 version of Cython
is limited to the ability to run "import Cython" from within Python. In
addition, "setup.py" which rely on compiling *.pyx files using "cythonize" or
similar also require a Python 3 version of the package.

Immediate Issues
================

1. Should the package be named cython3, python3-cython, or something else?
2. Should the cython script in the package be renamed and provided as
   cython3 (similar to ipython3, etc), or just dicarded?

Thanks!
