[Python-apps-team] Cython in testing

Hi,
Cython 0.19.1+git34-gac3e3a2-1 is being blocked from entering testing
by a timed out build on mips [1,2].
The reason I am interested in cython entering testing is that (as part
of the salt packaging team[3]) I am keen to backport salt (a
configuration management tool) to stable and oldstable. To do so, I
need to also backport a number of packages including cython >=0.16.
I understand that this sort of build failure is probably due to
hardware issues[4].
Is there any way to assist in getting cython into testing?
Once in testing, does the python-apps-team have any plans to backport cython?
If not, do you have any objection to me doing so?
Thanks in advance,
Joe
