This is an upstream bug. Normally I would report it upstream but I
can't reproduce it. If you'd like to report it in the mercurial bts,
it's here:

Bear in mind that upstream will probably ask you to reproduce it in a
more recent version of mercurial, 2.2.2 is ancient by their standards.
