Dear Maintainer,

mercurial-common installs contrib/zsh_completion to 
/usr/share/doc/mercurial-common/examples/zsh_completion.gz.

Please install it to /usr/share/zsh/vendor-completions, uncompressed.
This way zsh will find it without any special configuration on the
user's part.

(That directory name is specific to Debian; it doesn't exist on other
distros.  Upstreams' build processes should install zsh completions to
/usr/local/share/zsh/site-functions by default.)
