why did you actually make such a change without any reason withoout
discussing with Debian first?

In Debian we would have scheduled a binNMU and get done with it, so
there's nothing in the package to be done.

what's the point of this change?

"we" as in? why not discussing it with us BEFORE apply a useless diff
diverging from debian?
