Package: python-django
Version: 1.9-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I had previously tested django1.9 from experimental and have prepared changes which allow
lava-server to run and for all the unit tests to pass. When the version from unstable appears,
localhost fails with a new HTTP500 import error and the unit tests fail with a new import
error.
Testing against experimental MUST provide a reliable indicator that the upgrade in unstable
will continue to operate or there is no point in having the upload in experimental in the
first place!
There hasn't been enough time between 1.8 and 1.9 to even get the upstream changes for 1.8
uploaded to unstable and now 1.9 has completely broken even those changes *despite* full
testing of 1.9 in experimental.
The django upgrade process in Debian is fundamentally broken and is wasting massive amounts
of time. There is no point watching or testing from experimental - taking a month of upstream
time to get the fixes in - when the actual version has unrelated breakage.
