Agreed. I just checked the upstream bug tracker and found numerous similar
requests that were turned down as wontfix in the past but it looks like
they are open to reconsider the question in
https://code.djangoproject.com/ticket/23658

So I submitted this suggestion there and have marked this bug as forwarded.
