Just to keep this bug report up-to-date:
This particular problem is easy to fix, and I have made the fix to git.
Unfortunately there is a bigger problem, and that is that kombu depends
on a package in experimental (python-ampq). This is due to an
accidental-upload-to-unstable-instead-of-experimental.
For the latest progress on this, read the thread in debian-python or see
the bug report #858586.
I imagine we will end up fixing this by downgrading kombu.
