I am planning to do a team upload to fix this today. As I am not
familiar with the package, I will simply use the route of least change
and apply a patch to try to get "main" from "pip._internal" (like this
is done upstream). I don't think your NMU is valid as pip is expected to
not be shipped inside this package (excluded in debian/copyright). There
are also additional changes in git.
