The license issue is easy to solve, either by removing the line
from debian/copyright or by removing the site-directory from the
.orig.tar.gz. It's not in the pypi source anyway, if I'm not
mistaken.

I'm not planning to work on this at the moment, because of other
priorities, but yes, this makes sense. If you need sponsoring
for the package upload(s), do not hesitate to ask me or here on
the list! Later on we can remove the old python-social-auth
package.
