There's no way this particular package is going to work without a
rename, because its name is now a reserved keyword.
Its README on Github says:
> 3.x: NOTE: it doesn't seem to work deterministically in this version,
> and must be avoided

so I suspect the best solution may be to do as its author suggests and
not use it (and remove it from Debian).
