Now that buster is released we should upgrade to prompt-toolkit 2.  We plan to drop python2.7 entirely in this cycle, so the python3 solution is the way to go.

I'm unlikely to do the update anytime soon due to the press of other work, so don't anyone wait assuming I'll do it.
