This was my plan, but I'm now in two minds about whether retaining the
python2 versions for the release is wise or not, in terms of maintainer
effort and in terms of the desirability of retaining python2 support for
anything.

These packages have pretty respectable popcon (~9k for ipython, ~4k for
ipykernel), and I would imagine there is a certain amount of old
scientific code which people would like to continue to use interatively,
but it'll require multiple python2-only source packages;

What is your preferred option?
