lowered the level of polling, will work on getting pushes on these (it
was meant to be "every half hour" but instead was on "every half
minute", now it's "every 2 hours" instead…)

This is already set up to do so, the jobs are set to poll only once per
day as a backup the push is missed, nothing more.  just there are many
jobs slowly chrunching hitting that repository.  how many hits are we
talking about here?  I suppose if they are really that many that you
noticed them we should look into this further, but please share some
numbers first.
