I've uploaded a change that (hopefully!) fixes the issue.

I admit I'm a bit worried since the bug only became visible *after* dh-r
has migrated to testing.  I've tested the change[2] with several
packages here but well, that was in the same environment where the
package was build which is not the case for a normal debci run.

However, the issue should have been become obvious even in unstable
10 days ago.  So I'm not sure whether my latest upload will trigger
those issues in 10 days again instead of breaking things immediately
(which will hopefully not be the case).

Any review will be really appreciated.
