I'm not so sure about the last sentence here. Or to phrase it differently: I 
think you could be right, I don't really see a downside in your approach, 
neither now, nor three days ago when I first read it.

I'm curious what will other have to say. I've also noted this as a topic to 
discuss as the upcoming reproducible builds summit in December.
