Thanks for giving it a try!

I'm kind of of the opinion *if* we vary build-path at all, we may as
well vary the length; the most obvious use-case for build-path
variations is builds in /home/USER and requiring all usernames to be the
same length is a bit unusual. :)

But if things explode in surprising ways it can obviously can
revisited. :)
