I don't know about these uk? devices. However, my scanner works quite
well with /dev/ss0. I had to put "/dev/ss0" manually into my
backend's config file.

Maybe SANE can't cope with the uk? devices? Are they new? I tried
1.5.1 and got the /dev/ss devices.
