[sane-devel] Why cant the Snapscan drv load the firmware automatically ?

Fou USB acer scanprisa scanner that is.

I mean, it is just a fork and a call to the acerfirm utility. 

Is there a reason why this shall be done "by hand" ?

Will the scanner identify itself, so that the driver can choose the correct firmware to send ?

If not, would'nt it be nice if the sane backend gave a GUI to choose the firmware file, and then call acerfirm and send it to the scanner.
