I've done a little more research on this issue. I used xscanimage
and received the same error messages scanning above 400dpi in binary
or grey scale. (Error during read: Invalid Argument) I *can* scan
up to 720 dpi in 8 bit color mode. If your successes are only doing
color scans, they may never have this issue.
