There is no entry about such a backend in the PROJECTS file. However,
you may want to search the mailing list. There are about 40 entries
for "memorex". Don't know if there is interesting information.

A hardware level description. Information about all the commands or
registers and how to send/write them and read them. A description of
the format of the data and what to do with it (e.g. line distance
correction).

Read the SANE standard. Look at existing backends. Look at
doc/backend-writing.txt. Write a minimal backend. Ask questions :-)
