Two additional comments: 

No return status is defined for sane_get_parameters. All the other
functions define what can be returned, only sane_get_paramaters doesn't.

At least, SANE_STATUS_NO_MEM should be allowed.

And shouldn't the descripition of SANE_Parameters (the type) go to the
chapter "Data Types"? All the other types are described there and I
always wondered why SANE_Parameters is in the function section.
