[sane-devel] ANNOUNCEMENT: Coolscan2 backend

This is to announce that the first alpha release (0.1) of Coolscan2,
the enhanced backend for newer Nikon Coolscan scanners has been
uploaded. It can be found in the "download" section of

  http://coolscan2.sourceforge.net/          .

Support currently extends to the following scanners:

  LS-30
  LS-40 ED

Support for the LS-4000 ED and LS-8000 ED should be present, but is
entirely untested. For current limitations and future plans, see the
TODO file. The README file contains important installation information
(for the LS-40 ED in particular).

Please test this backend with any of the above scanners and report
results, whether success or failure.
