Nothing. However that's only the messages concerning loading the
drivers. I think the messages about recognizing the hardware are
missing. Something like this (ohci, but uhci should be similar):
Jul 1 23:10:01 hmg1 kernel: usb-ohci.c: USB OHCI at membase 0xe289b000, IRQ 9
Jul 1 23:10:01 hmg1 kernel: usb-ohci.c: usb-00:02.0, Acer Laboratories Inc. [ALi] USB 1.1 Controller
Jul 1 23:10:01 hmg1 kernel: usb.c: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 1
Jul 1 23:10:01 hmg1 kernel: usb.c: kmalloc IF df9d95c0, numif 1
Jul 1 23:10:01 hmg1 kernel: usb.c: new device strings: Mfr=0, Product=2, SerialNumber=1
Jul 1 23:10:01 hmg1 kernel: usb.c: USB device number 1 default language ID 0x0
Jul 1 23:10:01 hmg1 kernel: Product: USB OHCI Root Hub
Jul 1 23:10:01 hmg1 kernel: SerialNumber: e289b000

Jul 1 23:10:01 hmg1 kernel: hub.c: port 2 connection change

Jul 1 23:10:01 hmg1 kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/2, assigned device number 2

The last view messages are for my usb scanner.
Jul 1 23:10:01 hmg1 kernel: usb.c: registered new driver usbscanner
Jul 1 23:10:01 hmg1 kernel: usb.c: usbscanner driver claimed interface df9d9980
Jul 1 23:10:01 hmg1 kernel: scanner.c: 0.4.6:USB Scanner Driver
And here the scanner driver claimed the scanner.
Maybe 2.4 is more verbose than 2.2 but some messages about the hardware
should be printed. Maybe you have a ohci instead of an uhci host
controller? Or something else?
Bye,
Henning
