Hi!
I already sent this message last week, but with a "wrong"
email-address, so I received a corresponding email. Since
my message wasn't posted up to now and I already asked
the list-moderator (sane-devel-admin at mostang.com)
whether I should post my message again and didn't
receive any answer I do post it again with my "correct"
email-address (the one I used to subscribe to the list).
I feel sorry, if this is not the correct behaviour respectively
not the right list. For the latter please tell me where to
post this message because I need a solution at last.
Thanks!
For a very long time I'v tried to install my Mustek Paragon
MFS-8000SP (Firmware 2.01¹) once and once again. One
year ago I bought an Adaptec 2904 SCSI-Controller
because I was told installation should work with this controller.
But yet I wasn't successful.
I'm running Kernel 2.2.19 on Debian potato and have Sane 1.0.8
installed.
After loading the respective modules - scsi_mod.o, sg.o and
aic7xxx.o for the SCSI-Controller - I find the following lines
in the dmesg-output:
----------------------------------------------------------
(scsi0) <Adaptec AIC-7850 SCSI host adapter> found at PCI 0/13/0
(scsi0) Narrow Channel, SCSI ID=7, 3/255 SCBs
(scsi0) Downloading sequencer code... 415 instructions downloaded
scsi0 : Adaptec AHA274x/284x/294x (EISA/VLB/PCI-Fast SCSI) 5.1.33/3.2.4
<Adaptec AIC-7850 SCSI host adapter>
scsi : 1 host.
Vendor: Model: *M"Àÿÿÿÿ1/43/41/2Ãÿÿÿÿ Rev:
Type: Sequential-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 00
----------------------------------------------------------
As you can see there is no Vendor and a "strange" Model listed.
sane-find-scanner (as root) doesn't find a scanner. find-scanner -v
prints among other things:
--------------------------------------------
[...]
find-scanner: found unknown device " " at device /dev/sg0
[...]
--------------------------------------------
On http://www.meier-geinitz.de/sane/scanners.html Firmware 2.01
is listed as supported by Sane.
Any hints what to do?
TIA!
Christoph

¹ To find out about the version of the Firmware I just opened
the scanner and found a sticker with the imprint 'Ver. 2.01'.
