Abel just removed the vprintf stuff in scanimage and used printf
instead.

I think some of them have been discussed on sane-devel some time ago.
For some of them I asked the authors for details but only got bounces
or no answer.
Ok, let's see:
sane-backends:
> <URL:http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?src=sane-backends>.
#138108: fails to build from source
--> discussed in this mail
#139509: sane-backends: needs newer config.{guess,sub} to build on mips
"Here is a patch to fetch the latest versions from autotools-dev. A
better choice is to make sure upstream upgrades their version."
--> already done (GNU config.guess (2002-03-04))
#128168: libsane: xsane & scanimage randomly crash Epson 1240U (blinking red)
--> maybe an epson backend problem? I don't think it is connected to
any "USB library"
#51171: sane: hostnames in saned.conf
--> This is the only report I have ever seen about only hostnames
but not FQDNs working. Usually it's the other way round. Anyway,
this should be fixed in 1.0.7. In current CVS also pure IP
addresses without DNS lookup are possible.
#79719: sane: Preview shakes light bar too much
--> microtek2 backend or kernel driver problem? However, it looks
like it was (nearly?) fixed in 1.0.4 and hasn't been tested
with 1.0.7.
#82770: libsane: Problems scanning in Color mode on SnapScan600.
--> I guess this was fixed in newer snapscan backends (?)
#95440: Build depends on umask setting
--> Debian-internal
#99551: libsane: Missing symlinks for some man pages
--> Debian-internal (?)
#129032: Microtek Scanmaker X6 SCSI in color-mode scans wrong colors
--> bug report for sane 1.0.1, maybe fixed in newer microtek2 backend
#139256: libsane: pnm backend not included
--> that's intentional (see PROBLEMS and man sane-pnm)
#116962: libsane: updated hp backend
--> updated backend is in sane 1.0.7 I guess
#81109: HP Office Jet support?
--> Debian internal
#84143: HP Office Jet support?
--> Debian internal
#118308: libsane: Recompile with ptal support
--> Debian internal
sane-frontends:
> <URL:http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?src=sane-frontends> and
#101060: sane: blank image when scanning
--> I guess that's a backend problem (umax), probably fixed in 1.0.7
#121980: sane: segmentation fault during startup
--> looks like a bug in net backend. As there have been quite a lot
of changes to the net backend (and sanei_wire etc.) I guess it's
fixed now. At least I haven't seen similar reports for a ling time.
#21983: sane: insecure use of /tmp
--> already discussed
#29948: sane: sane + umax: failed to open device
--> from version 0.74-2 --> stone age :-) Probably fixed in later
umax backends
#39470: sane: Manpages find-scanner(1) and xcam(1) missing
--> xcam has a man page since 1.0.3, sane-find-scanner since 1.0.5
#52064: sane gives assertion failure when it cannot find a scanner
--> fixed years ago
#56747: xscanimage fails on assertion in GTK
--> same
#82793: sane: xscanimage: bogus gimp related warning on stderr
--> fixed years ago
#95381: sane: Missing build-deps for sane
--> Debian-internal
#103109: Sane 1.0.5 is out
--> even 1.0.7 is out :-)
#105927: sane: doesn't correctly send unit start command when scanner is in low-power mode
--> problem in microtek backend; it's unknown if it's fixed
#114017: sane: scanimage doesn't produce a working file with -t and --resolution
--> mostly user error (setting y position but nor decreasing
height), maybe epson backend bug
#109428: xscanimage refers to find-scanner
--> as mentioned, this is fixed.
#135264: sane: New upstream version available
--> true :-)
#28780: sane: Scanner device had wrong permissions
--> Debian-internal
#103590: Make GIMP plugin usable in scripts
--> patches are appreciated :-)
#117157: sane: please build sane with ptal support to enable the OfficeJet R series
--> Debian-internal
#21329: sane: Custom gamma table causes undesired distortions
--> 0.71-2 (stone age), umax backend, probably fixed in the meantime
#22123: sane: Misleading error message when user has no permission for scanner device
--> fixed in 0.75
#77356: sane: sane failes to open device (woody/m68k)
--> user never answered, maybe artec backend bug
I think most bugs can be simply closed and should have been for a long
time.
Bye,
Henning
