You're seeing two problems here: One is an implementation error, it doesn't
find a description string for your scanner model. This is only a bug in the
logging routine, it doesn't affect functionality (and it should be fixed in
recent versions of the backend).

The real problem is the missing firmware entry in snapscan.conf. Please read
the documentation on http://snapscan.sourceforge.net and add an entry

firmware /path/to/u176v???.bin

to your snapscan.conf (path and filename should be changed to your real
firmware file location).
