Well im fighting it out still.
1. I recompiled my kernel and took out the uscanner driver.
2. On boot I get the scanner found by ugen0

device libusb:001:002
4. usbdevs -v gives :
Controller /dev/usb0:
addr 1: self powered, config 1, OHCI root hub(0x0000), OPTi(0x0000), rev
1.00
port 1 addr 2: power 500 mA, config 1, CANOSCAN N656U(0x2206),
Canon(0x04a9), rev 1.00
port 2 powered
5. scanimage -L gives :

No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
[plustek] sane_exit
Anyone have any more ideas ?
Thanks for the help.
