I got your other message about the kernel versions you've tried.
I don't have any experience with the 2.5 kernels, I do however
know that 2.4.19 works, so stick with that for now. Once you've
got the scanner working, you can try the newer kernels.
Which distribution are you using?
Which version of Sane are you using?
Can you please send the output of the following command:
cat /proc/bus/usb/devices
This will show if the USB scanner driver found your scanner.
sane-find-scanner did not locate the scanner, this means that it's
not (yet) a problem with the EPSON backend, there is something else
wrong.
