the Maxi Scan A4 SCSI is supported by the SnapScan backend. 
Unfortunately there is no support at all for parallel port scanners 
in the backend.

Agfa seems to use it's own parallel-SCSI converter which is 
incompatible to other similar devices, and (needless to say) there's 
no documentation available. I'd assume the same is true for 
Guillemot.

As far as I can see the only solution is reverse-engineering the 
parallel port protocol (possibly by using a logic analyzer) and 
writing a kernel driver for it.
