The kernel scanner driver supports (almost) all scanners. That's not
the problem. The SANE driver must know about your scanner.

If there are already sane-backends 1.0.10 RPMs, use them. Otherwise
get the source.

You can check if your version of sane supportes a specific
scanner: http://www.mostang.com/sane/sane-old-backends.html

The list at the front pages alsways is about the latest version.
